Decent kit, slow shipping

I ordered the dasher activation kit to get started. The items themselves, like the insulated delivery bag and Red Card, seem pretty standard and functional. Everything was in the box as described. However, the shipping took almost 8 days to get to me in Florida, which felt a bit long when I was eager to start dashing. Customer service was polite when I inquired, but they couldn't speed it up. Overall, good value for getting the essentials, just be prepared for a wait on delivery.

Got my hat and t-shirt

Yeah, I just got the dasher hat and a t-shirt. Figured I'd look more official, you know? The hat fits okay, and the t-shirt is comfy enough, not super thick cotton but good for driving around. It took like a week for them to show up, which was fine. Nothing amazing, but totally fine. Made me feel a bit more like a pro, haha.

Phone mount and red card delivered

I signed up to be a Dasher and ordered the phone mount and the dasher red card. The ordering process was straightforward on their website. It took about 4 days for the items to arrive, which was pretty quick. The phone mount attached easily to my car vent and holds my phone securely, even on bumpy roads. The red card came activated, so I didn't have to do anything extra there. I haven't needed to contact support yet, so no feedback on that. Everything worked as expected, no complaints.

Reliable gear as always

This was my third order from the Dasher store. I needed a new pizza bag because my old one finally gave out after a year of heavy use. Like my previous orders for the insulated delivery bag and a dasher hoodie, this pizza bag arrived in good condition and within a reasonable timeframe, about 5 days to reach Atlanta. Their gear is consistent; it's not fancy but it holds up well to daily dashing. It's why I keep coming back when I need something specific for deliveries. No surprises, which is good.

Thermal backpack arrived quickly

Needed a bigger bag, so I got the thermal backpack. Ordered it late Monday, it was here by Friday. Good size, keeps food warm. No issues.

Are there any discounts for gear in the Dasher store? Like for the apparel or accessories?

S Sam Whitfield 1 month ago
They do have gear discounts sometimes! Keep an eye out around holiday sales, or sometimes they'll send out emails with a promo code.

Yeah, I got my dashcam for like 15% off during a 'back to school' promo last year. They definitely run those.

Do I need special insurance for dashing? Or is my regular car insurance fine?

J Josh Patel 1 month ago
You should probably check with your insurance company. Some policies don't cover commercial use, even part-time. Better safe than sorry.

Most dashers just use their regular insurance, but technically it's a gray area. I know some companies offer ride-share add-ons now though.

Is the DoorDash thermal bag any good? Or should I just get a better one from Amazon?

E Emma 2 months ago
The one they send you is okay for most stuff, but if you're doing big orders or pizza, you'll probably want to upgrade. The pizza bags they sell are way better for that.

It's decent to start with, especially if you get it free with a promo. But yeah, if you're serious, a bigger, sturdier one is a good investment.

Hey, wondering if the sign-up bonus is legit or if there's a catch? Saw an ad for like $500, seems kinda high.

E Emma 2 months ago
Yeah, they totally do those bonuses! My friend got one for $300 after doing 50 deliveries in like 2 weeks. Just make sure you hit the delivery count and time limit they tell you.

It's real, but it really depends on your area. And you gotta make sure you enter any referral code *before* you sign up. Can't add it later.

How long does it usually take for the activation kit to show up? I'm in Chicago and want to start dashing ASAP.

C Carly Walsh 2 months ago
Mine took about a week and a half to get to me in Michigan. They usually ship it pretty quick.

I think you can actually start dashing before the full kit arrives, if you have your red card activated. I remember doing a few orders before my bag got here.

i saw something about a referral code. where do i put that in when i'm signing up?

B Beth P. 2 months ago
It's usually right on the sign-up page, I think near the bottom. Super important to do it then because you can't add it after.

Yeah, definitely during the initial sign-up process. Don't forget, that's how you get those sweet referral rewards!

What's the deal with the Red Card? Do I have to use it for everything?

G Greg 1 month ago
No, not for everything. It's for when you have to place an order and pay for it yourself at certain restaurants. Most orders are already paid for.

M Marcus Walsh 1 month ago
You'll mostly use it for those 'order when you arrive' places. It gets activated once your background check clears and your kit arrives.

Anyone know if DoorDash is better to drive for than Uber Eats? Just comparing options.

M Megan 2 months ago
I've done both, and honestly, it depends on your city. DD usually has more restaurant options in my area, but Uber Eats sometimes has better tips.

C Carly 2 months ago
For me, DoorDash is more consistent with orders. Uber Eats can be super slow some days. Plus, the DD app is a bit easier to use, I think.
